Tie electric travelers together?

Are there any electrical code objections to tying the hot and the traveler together in a 3-way junction box to create a continuous 'hot' wire for a new load? [No, no actual 'hot' enters this box.] And/or, will a CFL bulb using this new "hot" notice the transition when the distant 3-way switch is operated? Thanks!
